TREATMENT – Most treatments can be done from the home; no medical attention needed. But if you need to seek medical attention, your physician may prescribe an oral antibiotic such as erythromycin or cephalexin. They may also inject a corticocosteroid solution into the area around the inflammation. Permanent removal may be recommended if the ingrowth occurs repeatedly.
PREVENTION – The best prevention is proper grooming of your nails. By soaking your feet, you can soften the nails and make them easier to trim. You should always wear properly fitted socks and shoes.
