TREATMENT – Hiccups usually resolve themselves. You may see your doctor if your condition is prolonged in which you have stomach acid backing up into your esophagus. He may prescribe cimetidine, ranitidine, or omeprazole to suppress acid production in the stomach at the cellular level. You can also lessen the occurrence with basic home remedies or herbal treatments. You can use deep breathing exercises as well as acupressure.
PREVENTION – Pacing yourself when eating and drinking less alcohol may prevent the hiccups.
