CAUSES – Most bladder infections are caused by various strains of E. coli. bacteria that normally live in the intestines. Women sometimes get bladder infections after sex. Vaginal intercourse makes it easier for bacteria to reach the bladder through the urethra.
TREATMENT – There is a wide variety of antibiotics to treat bladder infections. Some uncomplicated infections can be treated with just three days of medication. Drink plenty of fluids to help flush any bacteria out of the bladder. Nettle, uva ursi, and goldenseal are a few alternative methods of fighting bladder infections.
PREVENTION – When feeling the urge to urinate, you should do so as soon as possible. After a bowel movement, make sure that you clean the anal area thoroughly.
