CAUSES – A progressive degenerative disease of the brain that leads to dementia. On a cellular level, it is characterized by the finding of unusual helical protein filaments in nerve cells of the brain. In some cases, Alzheimer suffers have a history of head injury.
TREATMENT – Currently, there is no cure for Alzheimer’s. There are specific medications that can help slow the disease down if caught early enough. Donepezil is approved by the FDA to treat for mild, moderate, and severe Alzheimer’s disease. Alternative choices that can be used are; acupressure, acupuncture, chelation therapy, herbal therapies, and homeopathy.
PREVENTION – Since there is no cure and no one really knows what causes Alzheimer’s, it is best to maintain a healthy lifestyle by eating the right foods and exercise.
